Five Day Sermon Devotional

Day 1: Fear Not

Devotional
Fear is a powerful emotion that can paralyze us and keep us from moving forward. But God calls us to 'fear not.' When the angel appeared to Mary, his first words were 'Fear not.' This is a reminder that God is in control, even when we face uncertainties. Fear often arises from placing our faith in the worst-case scenario, but God has given us a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. Today, reflect on the fears that are holding you back and remember that God is with you, guiding you through every situation.

Bible Verse
'Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.' - Luke 1:30

Reflection Question
What fears are currently holding you back, and how can you shift your faith to trust in God's plan?

Quote
Fear not.

Prayer Lord, help me to trust in Your plan and not be paralyzed by fear. Remind me that You are in control and that Your plans are to prosper me and not to harm me. Amen.

Day 2: God's Spirit of Power

Devotional
Fear is placing your faith in the worst-case scenario. But God has not given us a spirit of fear. Instead, He has given us a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. This means that we have the strength to overcome our fears, the love to face challenges with compassion, and the clarity of mind to make wise decisions. Today, embrace the spirit that God has given you and face your fears with confidence.

Bible Verse
'For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.' - 1 Timothy 1:7

Reflection Question
How can you embrace the spirit of power, love, and a sound mind that God has given you to overcome your fears?

Quote
God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. Help me to embrace this spirit and face my fears with confidence, knowing that You are with me. Amen.

Day 3: Divine Interruptions

Devotional
God's interruptions are often inconvenient, but they are also invitations to something greater. When God interrupted Mary's plans, it was to invite her to be part of His divine purpose. Similarly, when God interrupts our plans, it is because He has something better in store for us. Today, reflect on the interruptions in your life and consider how they might be invitations from God to something greater.

Bible Verse
'For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.' - Jeremiah 29:11

Reflection Question
How can you view the interruptions in your life as invitations from God to something greater?

Quote
"God's interruptions are often inconvenient."

Prayer
Lord, help me to see Your interruptions as invitations to something greater. Give me the faith to trust in Your plans and the courage to follow where You lead. Amen.

Day 4: Trusting God's Higher Plans

Devotional
God's purpose is often different than our plan. His plans are higher than our plans, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. When we face uncertainties, we can trust that God is in control and that His plans are for our good. Today, reflect on the uncertainties in your life and trust that God has a higher plan for you.

Bible Verse
'For with God nothing shall be impossible.' - Luke 1:37

Reflection Question
What uncertainties are you facing, and how can you trust that God's plans are higher and for your good?

Quote
His plans are higher than our plans. His thoughts are higher than our thoughts.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me to trust in Your higher plans, even when I face uncertainties. Remind me that nothing is impossible with You and that Your plans are for my good. Amen.

Day 5: Obedience and Trust

Devotional
Outcome is God's responsibility. Obedience is ours. When Mary received the angel's message, she responded with obedience, saying, 'May your word be fulfilled in me.' Similarly, we are called to respond to God's invitations with obedience, trusting that He will take care of the outcome. Today, reflect on how you can respond to God's call with obedience and trust.

Bible Verse
'And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.' - Luke 1:38

Reflection Question
How can you respond to God's call with obedience and trust, leaving the outcome in His hands?

Quote
Outcome is God's responsibility. Obedience is ours.

Prayer
Lord, help me to respond to Your call with obedience and trust. Remind me that the outcome is in Your hands and that You are in control. Amen.
